Nissan Repair: 2006 Xterra no-start, no codes, fuel pump relay, fusible links

Question
Reading your answer to a previous question (10/31/07) about a similar situation has left me with additional questions.

I have a 2006 Xterra S that turns over, but will not reliably start.  When it does happen to fire, it will run smoothly but die after 5-30 seconds and refuse to restart although it will continue to crank.  Sometime if I use the other key it will restart, but dies again in similar fashion.  The fuel pump activates when the key is turned on, but I have been unable to verify its continued operation when the engine starts before it dies again.  I am also unable to find any clear direction as to the exact location of the fuel pump relay to allow me to replace it.  All the fuses %26 fusible links check good.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Steve,

Use the other key and see if it continues to run.  It sounds like the body control module is going out and causing the problem.  The relay will stay on so that would not be the problem.  Other causes would be that the oil pressure sensing unit is not sending signal to the computer and that would cause the vehicle to stall.  If you check the fuel pressure with a gauge you can verify that the pressure is good and that is not your problem.  An auto parts store can let you borrow or rent one of these along with the fuel line adapter.
