Nissan Repair: Fuse Link wire problem

Question
I have a '97 Nissan XE 4 cylinder pick up and the fuse link wire from the positive terminal on my battery is cut in half. As a result I have no tail lights, dash board lights, or hazard lights> I also have no knowledge how to replace this? It is a 12 gauge wire and is black. What do I need to do?

Answer
Hi John -

You have 2 options -

Replace the entire battery cable, as the Fusible link is a part of it, or

Generic fusible link wire can be purchased separately. Get the length that you need and use a bullet connector to install it where the break in the wire is (cut and trim off the insulation).\

However, before doing the work, why did the fusible link burn to begin with? There must be a reason and that needs to be determined, otherwise you will be just burning links.

Hope this helps -
