RV Repair: ceiling replacement, air stapler, wood slats

Question
I have a 1985 33' Vanguard that over the winter the ceiling has sagged in and I know the insulation in the ceiling is wet. I am planning on replacing the ceiling and insulation. I have been known to be quite handy but have never worked on structural problems on a trailer... only a house. It has an aluminum roof so I know I just need to seal all the joints properly to get it dry again. How do the interior walls come out (I know I more or less have to gut the interior) and what holds the new ceiling panels up? staples? Do I use and electric stapler if that's the case? Any books or websites with pics you can reccomend?

Answer
Welcome to RV'ing, I havent found any good websites yet that show detailed repair. Since you are used to house repairs this wont be too difficult for you. The best way to do the repairs is reverse engineering, just remove the trim first then carefully remove the panels. Normally the wood slats or framing is connected to the aluminum frame and the panels are stapled to the slats. The main thing to watch for is the wiring, be sure to put the wiring back so as not to staple it or crush it. Some units will have slide mounted slats for the panels to attach to.  Electric or air stapler is fine as long as you make sure of the size of staple and you set the pressure correctly so you wont damage the material. You can save money and time buy using replacement material from Home Depot or Lowes, You dont have to buy the advertised RV materials which are usually three times as costly.
