Nissan Repair: Nissan Altima Wheel stud replacement, stud removal tool, nissan altima

Question
I have a 1998 Nissan Altima that 3 of the studs broke off while trying to change the brakes.  I got the old ones off and bought new ones to replace them.  What is the easiest way to get the new ones back in?

Answer
Scott,

There is a stud removal tool that is quite effective.  If you try to drive the old ones out using an air chisel will damage the bearings.  To get the new ones in you use the stud and a stack of washers with lots of lubricant.  Tuen the lug nut around, I like to purchase a couple of extras for the job, and using the flat side, tighten the nut until the stud bottoms in the hole.  It will be sucked right through as you tighten and lubricate the washers.  Stack at least three washers and they will act as bearings as you pull the stud in and bottom it in the hole.
