Nissan Repair: Locate top dead center, nissan pathfinder, rocker arm

Question
Von,
I removed the timing belt on my Nissan Pathfinder SE '93 without making my marks. I've been reading the repair manuals and it mentions to locate the "top dead center" on the No. 1 piston. How do I locate this point by looking at the rocker arms. The cover is removed on the right hand side where I can see the no. 1 piston rocker arm. How do I know if it's at TDC? Thanks.

Answer
Sen,

You are going to have to be careful.  I say this since you do not want to bend valves by turning the crank assembly out of time with the valves.  The rocker arm, number one, intake rocker arm.  With the intake valve just starting to come off base circle, to depress the valve is where top dead center.
