Nissan Repair: 1987 Pickup V6, air control valve, probable causes

Question
When this truck is idling it just rebs up of and on. It don't do it when driving. Thanks Don

Answer
Don,

The idle air control valve or the map sensor are the two most probable causes.  I would clean the throttle body and the idle air control valve first.  Disconnect the battery for five minutes, reconnect and see how it runs.  If you still have problems with a hunting idle pull the idle air control valve and look for actuation when the key is turned on and off.  DO not start the car when you do the test, just remove the valve, leave is connected to the wiring and turn the key to on and then off.  The pintle valve should move back and forth.  No movement means replace the valve.
