Nissan Repair: 1989 pick up with z24 wont idle, air control valve, power valve

Question
QUESTION: I have recently bought the truck and i gave it a tune up (oil change, oil filter.,air filter, spark plugs and wires, distributor rotor and cap, adjusted the timing) it ran great for 2 days then when it was warm the truck would just die at an idle. I have replaced the bpt valve and still no luck not really sure what else it could be.

ANSWER: Kyle,

If yours has a carburetor it is most probably the power valve.  If fuel injected you have to adjust the minimum air bleed on the intake or remove and clean the idle air control valve.

QUESTION: It is a fuel injected z24
What is the minimum air bleed? and where is it located?

Answer
Kyle,

The minimum air is set with a screw on the intake that will allow bleed air to enter the intake.  If yours has one it is on the opposite side of the intake from the throttle body.  If not then you are looking at cleaning the throttle body and idle air control valve to get the engine to idle properly.  If that does not work then you need to replace the idle air control valve.
