Nissan Repair: Maxima Fel Gage, fire watcher, fuel sending unit

Gage only works between 1/2 and full. Will not show below 1/2 even when empty??

Sounds like the fuel sending unit, in the gas tank, needs to be replaced.  Means the gas tank will have to be dropped to get access.  Run the car low on fuel to make the job easier.  If you are going to do the work do it outside where there is plenty of air and have a fire watcher with a fire extinguisher standing by.  Source new hoses and clamps for the job and use WD40 on the bolts to keep them from messing up.
