Nissan Repair: gear change, transmission issues, manual shift

Question
QUESTION: hi i own a automatic 94 nissan largo. it starts up great but when im driving it sometimes wont go into gear, i can rev the engin an nothing happens, i have to pull over give it a rest for a few moments an it usually goes after a few revs. please help

ANSWER: Hi Kristina -

Looks like you have a transmission problem. I am assuming you have checked the transmission oil for proper level. this is the first thing that should be checked.

Now, I do not know if you have a standard manual shift, or automatic?

If it is a manual shift, then it is probably the clutch that needs replacing.

If it is an automatic, then you have transmission issues, but i would like to ask more information, like what do you mean by saying you are driving but it won;t go into gear, are you saying that it does not shift gears automatically, or are you saying that it seems like the car is in neutral? At what speeds? What about when you shift from park to Drive? Any hesitation?

Please et me know -

Answer
Hi Kristina

Yes, if your transmission oil is at the proper level, then you are due for an overhaul. You might try an additive called AT-205, which I have found great success in, even for non shift situations like yours. I don't know where you live, but I get mine from Carquest. If you want I can send a bottle to you, should be about $10 including shipping.

Hope this helps -
