Motorcycle Repair: 1980 FLT, bob tank, model bike

I have a 1980 FLT and Id like to put a fat bob tank on it. I've been told that some newer tanks will fit right on. Is this true? Are there certain models that would fit? How much other work would there be to replace the dash and head light with new to make it look normal again?  Darren.

The newer tanks will not fit your bike, unless you do some changes to the frame. If you look in the V-twin maufacturing catalog online you can find a fatbob tank that will fit your model bike, however. The dash and headlight fitting will depend on the tank you install
