Nissan Repair: 2000 maxima transmission, vehicle speed sensor, radiator support

Question
Von,

You have helped me many times before so here we go again. I just replaced the transmission in my 2000 maxima with a used one from a junk yard that supposedly had 100,000 miles on it. My car has a 186,000 on it currently. When I first start the car and take off everything is fine but once and a while when i stop it's like the car has shifted in neutral. I press on the accelerator and the car doesn't move. If I put it in park and back to drive it's fine.

My second question is the radiator support and part of the frame that the front motor mount bolts to is rusted pretty well and doesn't seem like it's providing much support. How dangerous is this and how would you fix that seeing it's part of the frame.

Thank you in advance for your help once again

Scott

Answer
Scott,

I would get a crossmember and replace yours.  If the transmission is not staying in drive I would look at the vehicle speed sensor to see if that lets the computer know the car is stopped and working.  So, see if the VSS is working properly.
