Nissan Repair: Seat belt light and chime, takata, receptacle

Question
Von, reference my question on 9/10, I replaced the receptacle, but same problem. Any other ideas?  Is there relay in this circuit?

Answer
Tony,

If you unplug the seatbelt wire the chime and light should go off.  If you have a Takata seatbelts check out the buckle to see if it fits properly and that the metal is not worn to the point that the receptacle is not loose and not making the curcuit work properly.  There is a box under the dash that makes the noise and does the work.  If you have replaced the receptacle and unplugging it does not kill the circuit you might be right that the box is defective.  But, I have never had one of these go bad?  Yours would be the first I have heard of.  Now, I disable the chime on most everything I own.  I wear my seatbelt and do not want to be reminded...
