1996 nissan altima.My brake lights stay on,even when the engine is off.

Hi Vinson -

This is probably the rubber grommet that sits against the brake switch. Look above the brake pedal. You will see the brake switch. attached to the brake lever there should be a rubber grommet that lines up with the button on the switch. If there is just a hole there instead of the rubber, then it will need replacing.

Sometimes there are 2 on that lever, so take a good look -
