Nissan Repair: vibration in front end 55-65mph, loose tie, steering wheel

Question
Dear sir,

My 2004 Maximum has the above stated problem. It vibrates really bad and i feel it and see it in the steering wheel at the speeds above. The tires are brand new and balanced is there something else that could be wrong. According to Jones Nissan in Sumter Sc. They can find nothing wrong with it.

Answer
Hi Kevin -

Assuming that the tires are all balanced, and knowing you feel it on the steering wheel as opposed to the entire car, looks like your front end needs work. Usually it boils down to the struts, or a loose tie rod or idler arm. Lift the front of the vehicle up until the tires are off the ground. Grasp the front tire and shake it left and right as if you are trying to turn the tires. You will then see the play and discover where it is coming from.

Hope this helps -
aloha
