Nissan Repair: 90 240sx wont start, load tester, battery connections

Question
My 1990 240sx got a new battery 9 months ago and a new alternator 2 months ago. It ran fine until today. It started fine, drove snot 2 miles, stopped at the bank and then wouldn't start. Like the battery was dead. When I jump the car it starts and runs fine (except for when I touch the brakes the radio shuts off and then comes right back on) until I turn the engine off and the won't start unless it's jumped. What should I be looking for to fix this? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Richard -

Sure sounds like you have a defective battery in there. If you have the headlights on, and try to start the car, do the headlights go dim or turn off? If so, I would double check all the battery connections, terminals and wires for security. If all is well, then I suspect you will need to replace the battery. Take it back to where you got it and have them check it with a load tester.

At the same time you might want to re-check the alternator for charging.

Hope this helps -
