my nissan altima's ac/geater knob will not turn to the full or high position it jumps back up to midway only giving cool or warm air, what is the problem and how do i fix it

The blend door or cable linkage to the door is messed up.  You will have to pull the control panel out to gain access.  Run the control knob around and check the back and you will see if there is binding on the control end or the blend door end.
