Nissan Repair: gas tank not venting, canister purge valve, charcoal canister

Question
I have a 2005 Sentra Spec V and my gas tank is not venting, I researched this and found that it is probably the Vent Control Valve- do you know if this is located inside the gas tank or outside? and if I have to drop the gas tank to repair it?

Answer
Denisha,

If the fuel overflows when filling that would be the vent tube that comes back to the fuel neck.  The large hose fills the tank and the small hose vents air out.  If you are talking about the canister purge valve it is located on the charcoal canister at the back of the car.  Email me back and let me know which one you are describing.
