Nissan Repair: maxima 2002, shift lock, plunger

Hello, I had the issue with the shift lock. well we have removed the panel from over the shifter. i depressed the brake and the shift lock button the white thing clicks but its not releasing it. what do you think it can be.

Push down on the black plastic plunger and it should shift out of park.  A temporary fix is to jam it down with a screw for now, until you get a new solenoid.  Be careful as it can be shifted out of park any time after you sam the black button down.
