Nissan Repair: 1990 King cab Nissan..transmission????, transmission slippage, nissan transmission

While driving down the road the engine suddenly started to rev up as if the automatic trans was put into neutral.  Engine shut down,and trans oil checked...all seemed OK.

When re-started and put into drive, vehicle would not go forward.  Reverse tried...no reverse either.  No previous indication of any transmission slippage or anything of that nature.

Any thoughts???

It sounds like the torque converter broke and the transmission has been damaged by debris from the torque converter failing.  Nothing you did as it just happens.  Over thirty years it has happened to me three times.  Time for a rebuilt transmission.
