Nissan Repair: Sentra Driver Door Wont Open, nissan sentra, window ledge

Question
Hello! I have a 2003 Nissan Sentra. Today I tried to exit the driver side and pulled the handle on the door, only to be stuck inside. If I roll the window down, I can open the door from the outside. I was quoted $200 to fix it, hoping you can give some insight how to do it myself. I don't know what to look for once I take the door panel off? Thank You for your time and help!

Answer
Honey,

The handle or rod, inside the door, has broken or the clip has come off or broken.  To remove the panel you need to remove the cover in the door handle cup and remove the screw underneath.  Remove the handle cover and remove the screws.  Then, with a putty knife or panel removal tool pop the clips holding the door panel at the bottom and work up the sides.  Take you time and get the putty knife as close to each clip as possible to keep from breakage.  Once all screws and clips are loose pull the panel up and off the window ledge.  Unplug the harness and place the panel a side.  Now, pull the handle and look at its actuation and see what is broken.  Could be the tab on the handle pull or a clip has broken allowing the rod to come off.  Check it out and email me back if you need more.
