My car delays in changing gears. when i give a sudden burst on the acceleration the car jerks a bit before changing from one gear to the other.

Check the downshift linkage and make sure the fluid is clean.  Otherwise, you are looking at the transmission pump or governor being in need of replacement.  You should have a screen and not a filter in the transmission so I would not think you had a plugged filter.
