Nissan Repair: 1993 sentra E wont start, neutral safety switch, shift lock

Question
QUESTION: My sentra won't start the battery is good so is the starter, i replaced the shift lock and neutral safety switch. still won't start

ANSWER: Roger,

If the car cranks check the ignition fuse.  If it does not crank check the starter circuit.  Where the small wire connects to the starter get a test light and have someone turn the key and see if you get power.  Now, there are master fuses at the positive battery terminal that can cause the problem.  And, there is the ignition itself.  It is a 1993 and the contacts could be cooked in teh ignition switch itself.

QUESTION: The one thing i forgot to tell you was that it some times starts if i play with the shifter. could it be the shift cable sticking?

Answer
Roger,

If you play with the shifter and you say the neutral safety switch was replaced would mean that the switch needs adjustment.  Try starting the car while running the shifter from park to neutral.  If it starts intermittently, that is, find the sweet spot and start the car.  If this is the case adjust the switch.
