Nissan Repair: 2001 Nissan Altima cranks for long time before it starts, nissan altima gxe, nissan altima

Hi,
I have a problem with my 2001 Nissan Altima GXE LE for the past 2 months. If I park my car under the sun for few Hrs and start the car, it cranks for long time before it starts. And, when ever this happens, I could sense smell of Gas along with some smoke from the smoke pipe. If I park it under covered area, it starts usual. I took the car to Brakes Plus, they couldn't able to replicate the problem but advised me to change all the 4 fuel injectors ($900). I don't want to spend that much amount without knowing it for sure. Pls help me pointing in correct direction.

Hi Viswa -

I can think of a couple things right off the bat. First of all check the cold start valve. Before starting the car spray some starting fluid in the intake throat and then start it. If it starts right away, I would replace the cold start valve.

If it still doesn't start right away, then try replacing the ignition module, located in the distributor.
