Nissan Repair: 1996 sentra harmonic balancer problem, crankshaft pulley, elastomer

i have a 1996 sentra and it seems that there is a problem with its harmonic balancer or crankshaft pulley because there is a voice coming from harmonic balancer and i smell a little rubber burn when my a/c is turned on. My question is how much averagely does it cost to change a harmonic balancer or a pulley? And is it possible that i keep on driving with a bad harmonic balancer?

I would look at the balancer and elastomer ring that connects the hub to the center.  Also, you need to look at the belts to make sure they are tight and not too old.  You are looking at several hundred dollars to change the harmonic balancer if that is the problem.  Plus, the cost of a harmonic balancer.
