Nissan Repair: 1997 Nissan Altima, nissan altima, electrical malfunction

Question
One of your previous posts has given a clue as to what may be wrong with my Altima. I too have a buzzing sound coming from the transmission area when I have the ignition switch on (not running) and manually advancing the throttle. I did not have an electrical malfunction as mentioned in the previous posts. But does the buzzing indicate a failure of the TCM. My symptoms are hesitation, stalling, bucking while driving at low speeds. Have already tested and tuned up just about everything but the cat. I am now down to checking the tps and tcm. Tps sinals and votages for closed and wide open throttle are within normal limits. Could this be the TCM just gone bad? Please help

Thanks,
Dave

Answer
Dave,

It is worth the $100 bucks to have a transmission shop connect their transmission computer to your car to diagnose the TCM.  Most probably it is, but I cannot see the car personally and would not want you to replace the TCM with just this information.  I would hook it to a computer to verify before plunking down the cash for a new or used TCM.  The buzzing is a dead giveaway.  But, I would want to be sure.  Also, bucking can be caused by a distributor with oil on the optics.
