Nissan Repair: Drivers seat problems, 2002 infiniti i35, side airbags

Question
Hi. I own a used 2002 Infiniti I35. The driver's seat motor has operated intermittently - worked for 4 months then stopped working 4 weeks ago. Can move it in all directions except forward and aft. The motor clicks when I try to move seat forwards or backwards but all other movements can be made (up and down, can tilt bottom cushion). Can this be just a simple loose connection or is the motor bad? I would think that if the motor was shot the seat could not be adjusted at all. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Sean,

A common problem with the Infiniti is the seat motor going out.  Check with rockauto.com or courtesyparts.com for a replacement motor.  If you have side airbags, and you probably do, be sure to disconnect the battery before removing the seat to replace the motor.

Do not disconnect the airbag harness with the battery connected or you will throw the airbag light.
