Nissan Repair: Loud humming noise in the engine, power steering pump, water pump

99 Maxima SE 200,000 miles.... I have a loud humming noise in the engine area.....Is this a sign of a water pump failure/ alternator/ worn bearing/pully.....No leaks are noted...seems slightly affected when I turn on the lights....where would be a good place to start?.......No2....trans is a little sluggish...would I benefit from a trans flush & lube.....i did one a yr ago......Thank you for any assistance...

You need a stethoscope to listen to basic components.  You probably have an alternator or power steering pump going out.  Internal humming is not normal and I have never heard of such.  Usually, when it is the water pump there is oil in the water and the car starts to overtemp.
