Nissan Repair: nissian altima transmission, altima, thump

i have a 1994 altima with 130000 on it runs great been a heck of a car  but now when it shifts from first to second its shifts hard  doesnt do it in any other gear  mainly when its cold  thanks

Change the fluid first along with the filter for the transmission.  There is either a servo that is hanging or the governor on the transmission is sticking.  A fluid change should healp in softening the shifts.  Also, check the engine adn transmission mounts to make sure they are good.  A broken back motor mount will cause a really hard shift to second.  Feels like the transmission is coming through the floor with the thump and all.
