Nissan Repair: White smoke, nissan sentra 2005, nissan sentra

Question
My Nissan sentra 2005 recently over heated and does not run well any more, it turns on but forget about trying to drive it, also white smoke comes out of tail pipe. Can you help me?

Answer
Hi Germain -

The white "smoke" is probably steam. If it dissipates quickly, it is, which means your head gasket is blown from the overheat. You will probably need a head gasket job, pretty major, maybe between 1,000 to 1,500 dollars depending on what needs to be changed. I guess the decision is whether it will be worth fixing, although still cheaper than a new car. It is probably only running on 2 or 3 cylinders, that is why it is not driveable.

If you plan to fix it, get back to me and I can guide you on the repair.

Hope this helps =
