Nissan Repair: 1993 Nissan Terrano Auto transmisson, nissan terrano, safety feature

Hi Von, I have a Terrano which will drive in reverse but when in drive will reach high revs in first,before skipping second and jumping to third.Any suggestions as to what is wrong would be gratefully accepted.

Nissan transmissions have a safety feature, to keep from damage, they will lock into third when a problem is discovered, by the computer, that controlls the automatic transmission.  Take it to a dealer or a shop that has a Consult II scanner to diagnose the issue.
