Nissan Repair: 2004 Xterra taillights/instrument panel backlight, fog lamps, rockauto

Question
I have a 2004 Xterra. The tailights and instrument panel backlight went out. They come from the same fuse and it keeps blowing. I dont see anything wrong with the taillight sockets.I replace the fuse and everything will work for five minutes tops.
If this is the headlight switch can I replace this myself and how much does it normally cost? Thanks.

Answer
Brent,

Yes, it is an easy repair.  Disconnect the battery and remove the steering column plastic cover.  Remove the switch and replace it with the new one. rockauto.com has one for the following price.
