Nissan Repair: 1998 nissan sentra power window problem, nissan sentra, sore fingers

Question
QUESTION: My driver's side window will go down with no problem.  But the only way I can get it back up is to pull the switch very hard to the point my fingers hurt.  sometimes i have to pull it up and to the left or right but always with extreme upward pressure on the switch.  gets worse when the weather is damp.  thanks in advance for your suggestions.

ANSWER: Hi Faith -

Replace the switch and you should be good to go. No more sore fingers.

If you are replacing it yourself, get back to me and I will walk you through it.

QUESTION: Aloha Calvin
Thanks so much for the reply.  Is replacing the switch a very difficult task?  I am pretty handy myself and would like to do it.  Thanks for the instructions.

Answer
Hi Faith -

No, pretty basic.

First of all, the switch might have to be ordered from the dealer. I do not think outside auto parts stores have it. You might find it on line too. Try www.2carpros.com, or www.autozone.com

To replace -

Remove the door panel by prying it off of the door with a putty knife. Be careful not to damage the panel, as it is held on by plastic clips. The top of the panel, and the area by the arm rest usually is screwed down, so you will have to remove those screws as well. Once you get the panel off, then you will see how the switch is mounted into the door panel from inside (look for the wires). Remove the old switch and connect the new one. Test it first before closing up the door again.

Hope this helps -
