Nissan Repair: HELP!!!!, nissan altima gxe, mass air flow sensor

i was driving my 95 nissan altima gxe on the interstate when all of a sudden it wouldn't accelerate and the gas pedal went completely to the floor. i can put it in drive and it will "roll" but as i said the gas pedal just goes to the floor. it starts right up and doesn't appear to have any other problems. i was having some problems with it blowing fuses due to the previous owner's not so successful attempts at installing his own stereo system and aftermarket tail lights. i've been told it could be either the mass air flow sensor or the transmission may be gone. please help!!!!

First of all, I apologize deeply for the delay in response. My computer has been down for a week. I feel so lost!

Anyway, have you tried checking your accelerator cable? It seems like it has snapped. If you pull on it from the floor and it pulls up easily, then the cable probably needs replacing.
