Nissan Repair: knock sensor- replacement, nissan maxima, knock sensor

Question
I believe I have a defective knock sensor on my 1996 Nissan Maxima. there's 175K miles on the car but it runs great. I need to pass an emission test in Wisconsin for a license renewal and I'm getting a P0325 code, but it don't make check eng light come on. I don't know where it's located and what's involved to change this. I want to do the job myself. whats involved with getting at this to change it?

Answer
Hi Steve -

the knock sensor is located on the intake manifold near the throat of the engine. Look for a tiny hex shaped device with a coupe wires attached. (See autozone.com if you want a pic).

Sometimes you need a special wrench to get to it. Clearance is very limited, so it helps to have a range of tools.

Hope this helps -
