Nissan Repair: Running hot, nissan hardbody pickup, electric fan

Question
I have a 95 Nissan hardbody pickup 4 cylinder. I find if I'm stopped for a
certain amount of time like for example at a drive threw my truck begins to
run very hot. Starts to freak me out a bit. It starts to run very loud as well. I
did buy it used, other then that it's a great truck and I rather fix the problem
myself. My question is would flushing out the old coolant and replacing it fix
the problem? If so are there any instructions or a site you know of. If not what
do you think the problem is?

Answer
Hi Francisco -

Please check the following first -

Is the electric fan working? At a certain temp it is supposed to energize. If it doesn;t, it will run hot when car is stationary.

How is the thermostat, could not be opening fully at operating temperature.

Check the coolant condition, if there is rust in the water, then it is time for a coolant flush.

Please take a look at these and get back to me -

hope this helps -
