Nissan Repair: Slow wipers, nissan almera tino, question thanks

Question
QUESTION: Hi i have a 2003 nissan almera tino (UK) and the windscreen wipers have slowed to an almost stop when in use, any ideas?

ANSWER: Hi Damian -

The wiper motor has failed. Replace that and you should be fine.

I apologize, as I am not familiar with the Almera, but I am assuming it is in the same location as other Nissans. Remove the cowl under the wipers, and you should see it. Just follow the wiper linkage. It could also be against the firewall of the engine.

Hope this helps -

QUESTION: Thanks for the reply, how straight forward is it to referb the motor (Bosch 964 CEP 12V) as it only seams to be a dealer part retailing over £190 / $285 – Damm dealers

Answer
Yes, dealers will get you all the time. If you find someone that can rebuild the motor, that might work. usually if the motor is slow, then the brushes need replacement. Check the cost first, if it is relatively close to the new motor, might as well replace with new.

I know people that used to work for dealers, they get commissions on everything they sell, so that is why the price is usually high. You can get that motor for half the price normally.
