Nissan Repair: 1989 nissan 300zx, nissan 300zx, reverse polarity

My 1989 300zx front driver side headlight wont flip up when i turn my lights on, i have to raise it manually. Why possibly might this be?

I would check the power to the motor first.  THe motor is the most common problem.  But, check the power feeding the headlight before you purchase parts.  Get a test light and unplug your motor and have someone turn the headlight on and then off.  The circuit feed will activate both for up and down with a reverse polarity.  If you got power both ways then it is the motor.  rockauto.com or courtesyparts.com are two good sources for parts.  Also, you could try your local wrecking yard.  But, these are getting pretty scarce in the local yards.
