Nissan Repair: 1995 nissan p/u 4wd 2400 engine, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum leaks

yes i own a 1995 nissan p/u 4wd with a2400 engine that idles up and down and goes dead at times. i carried it to a buddy of mine's shop he hooked up a snap on scanner and my check engine light went off as quick as he started to scan the system no codes in system scanner said check computer connections they check ok. previos owner might have ran alot of injector cleaner in truck when doing a tune up sprkplug tips were orange cap and rotor button bad also 215000 miles on truck.

I would go through the obvious things like making sure the distributor did not have oil on the optical pickup.  Second, check for vacuum leaks and change the PCV.  Check fuel pressure to make sure it is getting constant pressure and that the fuel pressure regulator is workiing.  Disconnect the vacuum to it and the pressure should go up.  Also, be sure to change the fuel filter.  If the plugs were orange the fuel was bad at one time.  So, some water dissipant like STP fuel treatment would be good.  Do not over do it on injetor cleaner as Nissan injectors are not fond of solvents.  Use a full tank of premium with the STP and you should be good to go.
