Nissan Repair: Instrument Cluster Lights, nissan sentra, instrument cluster

Question
I have a 1991 Nissan Sentra and my lights are out for my speedometer. I pulled the cluster and moved a bulb and socket that was working in 1 spot and it did not work. When I put it back into the spot I pulled it from it would not there anymore. Are the sockets and the bulbs supposed to be a set, or can the bulb be removed from the socket? When I pulled the bulb out it looked like it broke a little. The new bulb did not work in it eighter. Any suggestions? Thanks

Answer
Hi Penny -

The bulbs all should be one and the same. I would be a good idea to replace all of them since you are behind there anyway. They are all the same age so I would think they will fail soon anyway.

As for the bulbs not working, it is possible that it was damaged when it was being switched. If the new bulb is not working, then check the connections, as it twists on to a circuit board and a lot of times it does not connect. Of course there could be a chance that the bulb is defective as well.

Hope this helps -
