Nissan Repair: crank sensor, crank angle sensor, crank sensor

Question
i was sitting at a red light and when it was time to go i pushed on the gas and it just stopped working.  the car just died.  i took to a auto parts store and the diagnosed it as being the crank sensor.  is it normal for a car to just turn off if the crank sensor is needing replacement? thank goodness i wasn't driving in the interstate!

Answer
Sara,

Yes, it is a normal thing for the crank angle sensor to just fail.  Solid state components do fail from time to time.  I would purchase one and replace yours and then reset the code.  You should be fine after that...  Email me back if you need more information.
