Nissan Repair: Nissan, 2005 Altima Windows & Door Locks not working, just died!, nissan 2005 altima, power fuse

Question
QUESTION: My windows and door locks stopped working.  Same thing happened to me in 1/31/08, 1 year and a month ago!  They replaced the BCM, quite expensive, but they said they really didn't know hat the problem was, but the windows worked again, so fine.
This weekend I washed the car, and the windows and door locks stopped working again!  Constant checking shows it to be intermittent, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn;t.  I do not believe it is the BCM Module.  Checkign the groups here, it seems to be the master switch in the drivers door?  Is that what is wrong  with mine?  If this is it, shouldn't the individual door switches work anyway? I haven't tested those yet, so I'm curious.  Or, does the drivers door unit short everything out?  I want to check before I go and spend yet another $100.00 for windows to work.  AND, if this is such a known issue, why doesn't Nissan at least TRY and fix the problem?  THANKS for any advice, I feel lost with this problem, because fuses are good, and I can find nothing else wrong!

ANSWER: Mark,

Usually the master switch gets water in it.  I have replaced three on my Wife's Maxima.  All the switches are wired through the master switch on the driver's door.

QUESTION: Does that mean the other switches won't work either, I mean independently?  If the master doesn't work, then shouldn't the switch on the door itself work, or , are they all tied back to the master switch short?

Answer
Mark,

They are all tied back to the master switch.  But, before you replace the switch make sure the power fuse and relay to the switch is working properly.  Also, the key returns to run mode.  If the key is a little forward the master switch will not function.  Now, you say all is well so that means the master switch.  Since you have a 2005 try the key fob for rolling the windows down and the key in the door to roll the windows up.  Email me back and let me know what you find.
