Nissan Repair: Catalytic Converter Maxima, nissan maxima se, nissan maxima

Question
What is the labor & material cost to change the catalytic converter on a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE? My local shop guy gave me a quote of $1200. That seems awfully high. He said the Maxima has 3 cats and if one of them is broken (front), then the rear needs to be replaced as well since it is bolted in.

Hi Adam -

I don't know where you are, but the CATs in my area (Hawaii) for your make and model run about $300 - $400 retail. So, it does seem that it is very high for the labor cost.

I would get another quote.
