Nissan Repair: 1993 Nissan Quest Wont Turn Over, nissan quest, starter problem

Question
I have a 93 Nissan Quest. I go to start the car and it doesn't crank. The battery is fully charged. I suspect that it's a starter problem. Is there a way I can test the starter before buying a new one?

Answer
Hi Hansen -

There are a couple thintgs you can do first.

Get a hammer and tap the starter while someone is trying to start the vehicle. If it starts, or the starter makes noise, then replace the starter.

A more sophisticated way is to get a circuit tester 12V, and measure voltage at the starter (the small solenoid wire). If there is power there while the key is being turned (no power when key not turned), then replace the starter.

Hope this helps -
