Nissan Repair: 97 Nissan hardbody KA24e, nissan hardbody, fly wheel

Question
One night the truck died on my way home from work. It was low on gas but not empty. It is hard to get it to start, but once it does it will idle pretty good. If you rev the engine slow it will rev until the rev limiter shuts it down, if you really lay into it it will try and die, but if you let off it will go back to idle. I have replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor botton, fuel pump, MAF,IACV,fuel filter, and timing chain. When we checked the timing it showed to be 3 teeth out on the cam gear, when we put the new chain kit in and set the timing, we started it up and still have the same problem. About a month before I replaced the clutch and fly wheel. Could the crank position sensor have been damaged, it is located in the top of the bell housing? I have removed it and inspected it with no visual damage or codes for it. It did have a code for the MAF and IACV, but nothing seems to have worked.Any ideas?

If you have replace the the MAF and IACV then you need to look at them again and recheck the codes.  I would almost bet the MAF is defective from what you describe.  Also, if there is a massive vacuum leak that could cause the problem too.  Check the hoses and the clamps at the MAF and throttle body.  Email me back and let me know how it goes.
