Nissan Repair: Bleeding the brakes, vacuum line, two pints

Question
How do you bleed the brakes of a nissan sani 1996 model, v6 3 lt.?

Answer
Harry,

Purchase two pints of DOT 3 brake fluid and have a friend help.  First, remove the master cylinder fill cap.  Use a large syringe to pull the old brake fluid out of the master sylinder and replace with new fluid.  Be sure not to get the fluid on any of the paint as brake fluid will eat the paint off.  Next, jack up the car and start with the far back wheel.  Remove the tire and use a length of hose and vacuum line to connect to the bleeder screw.  Use an 8 millimeter on the back and have the friend puch on the brake pedal.  Open and close the bleeder screw quickly, while the friend is pressing on the pedal.  Do not let them let off until the bleeder screw is closed.  Repeat the process of having them press and hold while you open and close the valve until fresh, clean brake fluid comes out.  Now, go to the other rear wheel and repeat the process until clean fluid comes out.  Be sure to keep an eye on the master cylinder as not to let the fluid get too low.  Too low means air enters the system and you get to start over.  Now, do the next wheel the same way until clean fluid comes out and then do the other two wheels and you are done.  Never let the fluid get too low and never let the person helping let off the brake pedal unless you have the bleeder screw closed.  To avoid a mess use a plastic bottle to catch the old brake fluid from the vacuum line you are using on the bleeder screw.
