Nissan Repair: 1996 nissan pick xe, oil contamination, breather filter

4cyl 2.4l truck reaches 2500 rpm and begins to sputter once rpms drop below 2500 it will run fine changed fuel filter air filter breather filter any ideas what to check next

Check the distributor for oil on the optical shutter wheel.  Remove the cap, rotor, rotor post and cover and the optical shutter wheel is under it.  There is an LED with a pickup that reads the slots in the wheel.  If there is oil contamination it will cuase your problem.  Also, the coverter could be plugging up and that would cause poor performance at 2500 RPMs and beyond.
