Nissan Repair: no start, mass airflow sensor, crankshaft sensor

Question
QUESTION: i have a 2002 nissan sentra that wont start. the crankshaft sensor has been changed and all fuses and relays have been checked and i still have no spark. whats next?

ANSWER: Alan,

If you have no spark when you start the car you need to look at the ignition fuse.  Second, the ignition feed to the coil and third, the ECM.  Check these, in this order, and email me back with what you find.

QUESTION: the fuses are fine. it has seperate coils, and what am i supposed to check at the ecm? the only thing i did was to make sure the pig tails were fully connected. it all happened in a drive through. it was idleing and then just cut out and wouldnt start after that.

ANSWER: Alan,

I would almost bet the mass airflow sensor is the problem.  If it was the ECM there would be a code...

QUESTION: i plugged in my scanner and it told me that it could not comunicate with the computer. would the mass airflow sensor cause it to have no spark or to just completely stall out and not start back up? what are the chances that the computer needs to be flashed or replaced?

Answer
Alan,

Some scanners do not like Nissan computers.  So, I would try a different scanner.  I have three scanners and some work for some vehicles and not for others.  I would bet the computer is fine.  No spark would lead me to look at the ECM and ignition fuse and relay.  If the car was running low on voltage, as in the alternator not putting out enough, could pop some fuses.
