Nissan Repair: 1987 Maxima 89,000 miles, hi bob, distributor cap

Hello Calvin, I hope you can help. My mom's '87 Maxima will start and run for just a few moments then stall. You can then restart it but it will stall again after a moment. What should I be checking or replacing? I look forward to your reply. Thank You

Question -
When was the last tune up on the car? If it has been a while, then I would do that first, and then continue on with the diagnosis if the problem persists. Spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, ignition wires, could all cause the issue you are having.

If you continue to press the gas pedal, does it still stall? Can it be driven?

If so,

Can you tell me if the car misses under load? When going up hills and accelerating?
