Nissan Repair: 2002 Pathfinder dashboard lights, dashboard lights, fuel light

I have a 2002 Pathfinder.  The Dashboard lights come on and off.  At first the rightside of the dash went off (the tack side). When I would start my car it would either be on or off.  This went on for a couple of months.  The the left side of the dash went out (speedometer side) and the right side would be on.  One day it would be on the next off.  Now the entire panel (both right and left side) is off.  I can not see anything at night.  Then two nights ago it (both sides) was on. Last night, off again.  All the other lights, fuel light, check engine light, etc all work.  Including all the back lights behind the a/c, and on the center console.  HELP!

The instrument cluster needs to be removed to check the connector.  It is either the connector messing up, as in not making contact.  Or, the flex circuit board the lights connect to is not allowing constant contact for the instrument lights.
