Nissan Repair: power steering pump, shallow sockets, nissan altima

Question
How do I replace a power steering pump on a 99 Nissan Altima?

Answer
Hi David -

Replacement is relatively simple with the challenge being the access to the pump. Remove the drive belt by loosening the idler pulley. Remove the hoses, pressure and return at the pump. Then remove the mounting bolts (there should be about 3 of them, I think they are 14mm.

I am assuming you have the proper tools, as it is important, especially things like a flex head ratchet, deep and shallow sockets, extensions, flange wrenches, and pliers. It will make the job a whole lot easier because of the tightness of space you have to work with.

Hope this helps
